I called this:
Michael Bloomberg, the UN’s special climate envoy, thanked the president for stepping by.
He said the summit may prove useful when the president formulated climate policy, drawing laughter and applause from the audience.

Just a quick comparison: Obama: “Compared to some of the giants of history who have received this prize —Schweitzer and King, Marshall and Mandela — my accomplishments are slight,” Obama said. Trump: “I think I’m going to get a Nobel Prize for a lot of things, if they gave it out fairly, which they don’t,” Enough said.

Oh I don't know....in Trump's case, he has gotten away with breaking the law blatantly for most of his life. Very well-documented. He has gotten away with every instance of it so far as President. So don't blame him for continuing to do so, why shouldn't he? As for BoJo - I'm not British, no clue if they will let him get away with it or not. Probably. The Right is ascendant across the globe after all.

Man o man...the guy in charge of the Ukraine was a tv comic...you cannot make this stuff up.
Shaking hands with the guests and smiling for photos, the 41-year-old political novice stuck to a well rehearsed script, turning on the showmanship he acquired as the country’s most popular TV comic. His main message was that Ukraine is relying on continued backing from the U.S.

Pelosi, about as wily a political operative as there is — the same can be said of Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell — bided her time, resisting impatient young guns in her caucus who wanted to move much earlier, for two reasons: She knew that Trump, being Trump, would keep handing her more and more rope with which to hang him — and he didn't disappoint. The White House readout of Trump's call with the Ukrainian president released Wednesday sure backs that up. She also knew that public opinion wasn’t sufficient to warrant impeachment proceedings.
Meantime, here’s a blast from the past. Newt Gingrich, the Georgia hothead who as House speaker spearheaded the impeachment drive against President Bill Clinton in 1998, has been making the TV rounds with his insight on what’s going to happen now. As if Clinton’s situation then and Trump’s are the same:
Here’s another big difference between then and now. While Republicans were turning the screws on him, Clinton kept on working. In contrast, Trump’s invisible spokeswoman, Stephanie “I’ll talk only to Fox-News” Grisham said in a statement Tuesday night that thanks to the impeachment inquiry, the White House might not work with Congress on important matters like gun control, drug prices and trade deals. Yes, let’s throw a hissy fit, take our toys and go home.
This is typical Trump: thinking only of himself. This is just more ammo for people who say the president cares more about himself than the country — and they’re right.

As Donald Trump faces an impeachment inquiry, onetime aide Anthony Scaramucci is keeping up his barrage against the president, saying the soon-to-be-released whistleblower complaint will uncover “rank criminality.”
“You’ve got a felon acting lawlessly as the chief executive of the United States,” Scaramucci told Yahoo Finance’s On the Move.
The founder of Skybridge Capital and, famously, White House Communications Director for 11 days, recently changed his tune on his former boss and has been calling for a different Republican nominee for president. Trump’s call with Ukranian President Volodymyr Zelensky in which Trump asked the leader to “do us a favor” and investigate the son of former Vice President Joe Biden has given Scaramucci new ammunition.
“I do believe in the next one to three months, the Republicans are going to throw in the towel, they really don’t have a choice,” he said. “If they want to win the presidential election, they can’t win it with Donald Trump.” Scaramucci repeated his prediction that Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell will offer some sort of deal to the president to stand down and not run for re-election. “You’ve gotta get a group of Republicans that were running in 2024 to run in 2020 in a fair primary process and one of those people will emerge and compete against whoever the Democratic candidate is,” Scaramucci said.
Among Republicans in Congress, none have echoed Scaramucci’s concerns, although Utah Senator (and former presidential candidate) Mitt Romney said he found the transcript of the Trump-Zelensky call to be “deeply troubling.”

How would markets react?
So if Trump left, how would stock markets react? Euphorically. From a business perspective, the best of the Trump agenda—tax cuts and deregulation—would remain in place. But the worst of the Trump agenda—tariffs, protectionism, xenophobia and political interference with the free market—would dissipate. It might take a couple hours for markets to sort it out, but replacing Trump with Pence would almost certainly cheer investors.
What did he say about 9/11...they were dancing in the streets...Wall Street would be a flash mob for sure.

China leveraging Trump impeachment ‘desperation’ in trade talks <-------- link An impeachment inquiry of President Trump may not hit markets that hard (at least not yet), but it does pose a challenge to the administration’s policy efforts. Namely, what will happen with Trump’s trade dispute with China if Washington is tied up in an epic political imbroglio. Given the harm Trump’s tariffs are causing for U.S.companies, consumers, and global markets, the president recognizes the benefits of reaching a trade deal with China. And the specter of impeachment could lead him to settle, just so he can declare a win.

Trump says House Intel chair Schiff should 'resign and be investigated' — for parodying him The House Intelligence Committee chairman parodied Trump on Thursday. The president said this amounted to a lie.President Donald Trump called for the resignation of House Intelligence Chairman Adam Schiff on Friday, claiming the Democratic congressman "lied to Congress" with his mocking interpretation of the president's call with the Ukrainian leader. In one of several tweets attacking Schiff, who is leading the investigation into the whistleblower complaint that motivated House Democrats to launch a formal impeachment inquiry against the president, Trump alleged Schiff "totally made up my conversation" with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy. "He was supposedly reading the exact transcribed version of the call, but he completely changed the words to make it sound horrible, and me sound guilty," Trump wrote in another tweet. LINK Can you believe this, PAB calling somebody a liar
