Well that turned round quickly! I strongly suspect Ray fell asleep feeling quite happy about how things were going. He might not be quite as happy when he wakes up! 😂
Funny thing is I don't think Archer bowled at his best today. He has almost single handedly turned this series on its head. Important thing now is to take full advantage and bat well. 325 is an absolute minimum. Time to step up skipper.

well we will take that we really need to win this test because that injury to Smith will have strengthened their batting for the final 2 tests and our batting is still very iffy and they are a very good bowling outfit so the 4th-5th test i feel will be very difficult for us

Archer was a bit fortunate to get 6.
Broad bowled beautifully for 2. His ball to dismiss Head was unplayable

Weather is set fair for the rest of the test - we'll almost certainly get a result in this one.
Really critical session coming up this morning - if we can see off the new ball - we could bat ourselves into a very comfortable position. Big if tho... the Aussie pace attack no slouches...

I really wish we had Starc out there. We’ve got 3 top quality quicks playing but Starc swings it more than any of them and is quicker.
We got out of jail in the first test, time to start scratching at the bars today. Anything under 250 for you and I think we’re actually in front - 300 we’re a touch behind, anything more than 350 and I suspect we’ll shut up shop and go for a draw.

Lol, I've just got back from the dentist where I spent a painful few minutes having an infection around my wisdom tooth looked at. Switched the telly on and wish I was back at the dentists!  |

In fairness the only difference to the rest of the series is Burns had no luck. Roy got out to another poor shot. Root got another good one. We only need one partnership, our middle and lower order have been pretty good. We need them to do it again!
I totally get the idea of Roy opening. They want him to do what Banger used to do at the top, not going to succeed every time but if he can bat for a couple of sessions he could really influence the game. Problem is he doesn't look like lasting a couple of overs. Big pressure on him in the second innings, patience must be running thin.
Good players would see this situation as an opportunity to shine. Is this Denley's moment?

Roy is not an opener. And we are allowing Root to be easily killed with the new ball by keeping him at no.3... Some good bowling by all accounts tho. We could be skittled for under a hundred at this rate - looking horrific We can't keep relying on Stokes & Bairstow to dig us out of the hole.... |
