So for those who are following the Democratic side and all 246,984 candidates, who do you like so far? I was really impressed with Elizabeth Warren. She easily carried debate #1, and then in #2 with tougher competition I thought she really stood out. Biden really looks like he is not up to it. Bernie is awesome, and in my perfect world it would Warren/Bernie running and the country would take a sharp left. But it probably won't happen. Harris was really good in the first debate but I thought she got clobbered in #2. The rest probably don't really stand a chance. Buttigieg and Gabbard seem like they are getting some brand recognition for the future, maybe the same with Beto. All in all it's a decision between what I really want and who I think can be elected. Beating Trump is the #1 job. I registered Democrat and will be voting for the first time in my 40+ years, and I'm happy to be involved in my small way in the process. My previous religious beliefs forbid voting. My daughter, just barely old enough to vote, has also registered. We are watching the debates together. When I asked her why, she told me: - Fuck that guy (Trump)
- Not on my watch (his reelection)
She is determined that her single vote will be the thing that decides it. I love the enthusiasm of youth.

Bernie all day. He successfully debunks every right-wing talking point and criticism of his ideas. Warren is second on my list, but I don't have the same confidence in her - especially in foreign policy.
The other candidates are far behind. DeBlasio actually has decent policy, but he is an awful leader who is completely tone deaf. He gets killed - even by progressives - here for giving the appearance that he just does not care. He's on the right track, but he comes off as a disorganized mess.
Andrew Yang and Tulsi Gabbard are also on the right track but they don't project to defeat Trump.
Harris has a terrible, alarming record as AG of CA. Biden is a centrist; he's almost a Republican. Beto is owned by corporations. Williamson is into crystal healing woo. Delaney, Hickenlooper, and Ryan are Republicans.
That leaves Buttigieg who is also a corporate shill, although he is less empty than Beto.
So, in order: Sanders Warren then there's a really big gap Buttigieg another big gap Harris Gabbard DeBlasio

Harris was very good in the first one, but I was really unimpressed with debate #2.
If the democratic primary was today, I'd vote for Elizabeth Warren. I’m still open to changing that, and in the end, it really doesn’t matter who we nominate as long as the defeat Donald Trump.
For me, it goes like this:
Tier A Warren Sanders
Tier B Buttigieg Booker
Tier C Castro Harris Gabbard
I think in the future, Pete Buttigieg is the guy. He has some great ideas, but not much experience. Once he’s been in office more and at higher positions, he’ll be perfect in my mind. Then again, he still has more experience than Trump when he was elected....
I still think that Sanders/Warren or Warren/Sanders (doesn’t really matter to me) would be absolutely perfect together, but considering they’re the two leading candidates at the moment I don’t see that happening. If it did though, I’d be ecstatic!

If it did though, I’d be ecstatic! Almost no one votes based on the VP on the ticket. If either Warren or Sanders wins the nomination, then I don't want the other as Veep... that person needs to remain in the Senate and vote!

From the outside looking in..I really think Kamala Harris could kick Donald so far to the curb he wouldn't know what hit him. Also a favorite of mine Amy Klobuchar and she's from the mid-west. Liz Warren is a very smart lady. I just can't see Biden, his time has passed. JMO There's a long way to go, things will change..

I never pay much attention this early on in the campaign season. They change their platforms with a wink and a nod sometimes, depending on fan base.
I can say I don't want Biden and it is not because of anything Obama (I actually admire Obama, probably even moreso because my 2 son in laws are worse than the resident troll from the locked thread), it's just he is old school and we really need fresh ideas, not same old same old.

The article confirms that she did in fact laugh about personal use of cannabis whilst she has been putting people in prison for the same reason, although it is thought that the number of people locked up is lower than the number used by Gabbard. It also confirms that she did refuse the advance DNA testing for the man on death row until she was pressured by US media. She claims that the decision was made by lower level attorneys. I call bullshit. A man on death row for quadruple murder appealing for a new advanced DNA test wasn't looked over by Harris? No chance. It's a fact that prisoners were being used as for basically slave labour. It happened under her watch. She's dead wood.

With her track record, she should become a repub, they'd vote her in in a heart beat.

“Poor kids are just as bright and talented as white kids.” - Joe Biden
Accidental racism? Or just packed in so tight that it inevitably seeps out from the cracks in his mouth...😂

A huge reason why I won't vote for Joe. Too old and too easy to misspeak. We have that now, I don't want another president like that.

Biden is bought by the corporations. He is Trump without the overt racism. He is basically George H. W. Bush.

Tulsi Gabbard gave a speech in Iowa yesterday. I like her more than I did before, but I feel she lacks the oomph to energize voters. She's right on a lot of issues.
I have Gabbard a clear 3rd now, still significantly behind Sanders and Warren but way ahead of Harris and Buttigieg. She would be my pick for VP if Sanders or Warren won the nomination.
I need to spend more time looking at Yang so I can better understand his ideas, but he's so far behind that I don't think it matters.

Again, from the outside looking in....
In a General Election..
The majority of voters will not vote for either Sanders or Buttigieg.
I absolutely believe that the candidate will be a woman excluding Gabbard and Williamson.
Time has a way of evening things out. Let's see where things stand in February 2020.
Regardless of everyone's best guess, the primary objective should still be beating Donald.
