The right knows damned well - they can read polls as well as anyone - that a large majority of Americans repeatedly poll in favor of progressive ideas and ideals. Whether it is free college tuition, progressive taxation, Medicare-For-All, legalizing marijuana, legalizing gay marriage (remember that one? Actually came to pass....), stronger environmental regulations, harsher penalties for corporations that break the law, support for unions, strengthening the social safety net, Election Finance Reform, undoing Citizens United, etc, etc, etc - most Americans love these things. The backwards, neanderthal ideals of Conservatism have a smaller and smaller following the more that time passes. Republicans KNOW this - and they know that the only way they can win elections is by breaking the laws and manipulating elections: gerrymandering, disenfranchisement, purging minority voters (who tend to vote Democrat), tampering with voting machines, etc. If it wasn't for the antiquated Electoral College and these other tricks, most political offices nationwide, from local to state to federal, would be held by Democrats, not Republicans, except for the deep south and other rural, redneck ignorant jackass areas of the country. Republicans know this quite well. Which is why Mitch "Russian Asset" McConnell refused to allow a vote on legislation passed by the House earlier this year that would have made Election Day a federal holiday, so that more people could get out and vote - the more people vote, the more Republicans lose. The biggest gift to right-wingers is a population that either isn't motivated to - or can't get the time to - vote. Here's a great example: Georgia GOP Purges over 300,000 Voters

This is a very powerful piece from Salon, recommend you read it and then respond here with your thoughts about it. Agree? Disagree? American Conservatism Is Now An Authoritarian Movement
Some highlights: "But watching the impeachment trial unfold, and watching the perfectly-wrought arguments presented by Democrats evaporate into nothing as they hit the unbending wall of Republican opposition, one thing has become inarguably, distressingly clear: The only thing Republicans respond to is power. Even if some have pangs of conscience, and I have to imagine they do, they are stifling any remaining care for our democratic values and wholeheartedly running toward the siren call of authoritarianism. They are lost. They aren’t coming back. And it’s not just the party leaders or elected politicians, either. The last three years have been dominated by one unassailable number: 42%. That’s the consistent baseline of Donald Trump’s approval, and while it occasionally dips when a small percentage of conservatives are momentarily flustered by his latest act of unforgivable evil, those wafflers always come back around. Forty-two percent is a terrifying number, because it’s about more than Trump. That number represents the percentage of Americans who have, it appears, wholly rejected reasoned discourse and democratic values. Due to the quirks in our electoral system that give disproportionate power to rural and suburban areas, and due to voter suppression efforts from the GOP, that 42% will likely control the Senate for the foreseeable future and will quite possibly win the presidency again in 2020."

Why are you calling rednecks ignorant jackasses? This sounds like bigotry as well. I got accused a few weeks ago for being "labeled" a bigot when I am clearly not. Well now I guess that shoe is on the other foot huh lefty. You are interally inferring these southern rednecks are dumb and incompetent but their are many bright "rednecks" out there. Look at the Roberson's and duck commander. Those guys might have deep southern twangs and huge beards to give them a persona of being potentially inept but they have launched a prominent duck call company in Louisiana. Let me break it down for you. If free college tuition is offered, how do faculty, maintenance, construction etc. get paid? The funds have to come from somewhere. What's the solution lefty? We already live in a progressive taxation era. www.bankrate.com/finance/taxes/tax-brackets.aspx As you can see in the text, the more income one receives, the greater they are taxed on their money. This is a brilliant structure in my opinion. Lets hear your proposition. You cant just say oh legalizing marijuana is beneficial in any and all circumstances. marijuana would also be beneficial in a medicinal scenario, recreational marijuana should not be legalized. Between Alcohol and other forms of impairment which have already been legalized, their are already enough ways the American people can abuse something not proper for their bodies. Do we really want children being exposed to another form of drug unless they absolutely need it to satisfy pain. Marijuana for pleasure should not be tolerated at all. I also love how you said that the electoral college is antiquated and a trick, if the electoral college was not enforced, Abraham Lincoln would have not become President and the slave trade and implementation of slaves may have still existed to this date. This is not something we want or is it something you would have wanted lefty? Maybe you should think before you speak? here are just a FEW of the things Donald J Trump has accomplished as President 4 million job created, lowest unemployment rate in nearly 50 years, African-American unemployment has recently achieved the lowest rate ever recorded. Hispanic-American unemployment is at the lowest rate ever recorded. Asian-American unemployment recently achieved the lowest rate ever recorded. Women’s unemployment recently reached the lowest rate in 65 years. Almost 4 million Americans have been lifted off food stamps since the election. Retail sales have increased immensely. Secured a 700 billion military funding deal with another 700 billion military deal in the future. Imposed tariffs on foreign steel and aluminum to protect our national security. Imposed tariffs on China in response to China’s forced technology transfer, intellectual property theft, and their chronically abusive trade practices. Who says Trump is a bigot who frowns upon women and minorities, look at how much he has enabled them to get jobs. Also, he is making a conscious effort to bolster our national security and rebuild our depleted military prowess. Trump certainly has not run a perfect presidency, but then again no one is perfect. I will go ahead and drop my mic now, clayton raskell out.

I don't read fascists' comments, and I take comments not based on facts but on blind belief in their cult leader's omnipotence (look it up, try dictionary.com) with the same seriousness as I take the flat-earthers' spit-flecked rantings.
You aren't going to convince anyone here to turn towards authoritarianism. Peddle your Fox-regurgitated BS at your usual hang-outs, like Breitbart and Hannity and ILoveWrappingMyLipsAroundTrumpsDick.com
