I signed up since you went to all the time and trouble of tagging me.  Don't expect much participation as I barely follow Canadian politics, let alone US politics.  The extent of what I see is either the unavoidable internet headline articles or things people share on Facebook and I'm not stupid enough to read either of those sources as fact or assume they're unbiased.  I did read along the old thread as it did tend to make for some interesting reading and helped clear up some of the stories behind the headlines.  I'll read the stuff here as well and maybe chime in if someone is needed to defend Canada's mentally challenged fish.

Just for the record while I'm not American I do live in Southern Ontario, so I am surrounded by the US in pretty much every direction but north.  My wife is from Massachusetts and lived there for the first 25ish years of her life, so while she also doesn't much follow politics(at the moment because she's ashamed to) I do have that immediate American connection as she still has plenty of family there and we visit a few times a year.

And also a reason my wife doesn't care about politics.  She's realized that her vote there is absolutely meaningless since she's from a state where Clinton got nearly double the votes that Trump did.

It's meaningless in presidential elections (so is mine; I live in New York), but locally, all the votes matter.

I still voted just not for DT nor Hillary.  Our ballots usually have more than a presidential choice on them and as was said, voting locally is what I look at mostly.
