I know what all the snowflakes would say about this, easy to trick people, or you just chose the dumb answers, but man that's a lot of dumb answers! And a broad cross section of people as well. And well, it's just really funny as well! I generally dislike these types of videos. They're good for a laugh at a few people's expense, but it serves as a method of dismissing an entire class of people by painting the few people they sampled as representative of the larger group. I think Trump is a terrible president. I am not surprised. But people who support him do so for a whole host of reasons (yes, racism and xenophobia are among them). Trump ran an anti-establishment, populist campaign in 2016. That message was popular (it still is) and people were duped. They believed him, and everything they hear confirms this to be the case for them. They're victims of disinformation and gaslighting. In this video, Klepper does a good job using Socratic questioning so that the subjects actually discover their cognitive dissonance on their own, rather than being told that they're wrong. This is an effective way to break through and on the odd occasion, it results in someone actually changing their mind. That's the main goal. But, please stop short of determining that these folks represent the entire whole body of Trump support.

I'm not stupid enough or lacking in nuance to think that. I understand some of the deeper reasons that have led to the rise of trump. It's been something that's been going on in various countries for decades now. Trump just accelerated it and is an extreme example of it. I've seen a a LOT of videos like this, not just the comedy ones, also ones where people are just asked questions by reporters. I've also seen a LOT of comments on social media that align with this video. You're never going to able to generalise something like this, but I'm confident in saying there are a lot of trump supporters who are like this. A few dog whistle, angry ideas, whose opinions crumble under the merest of scrutiny, and then they just say "I don't care."

Don't get me wrong, I am not saying that I think you, specifically, lack the nuance to understand that what is shown is a sampling of the worst. I don't think that. Unfortunately, though, there are people who lack the critical thinking skills to understand that.

donald trump recently went to a psychic to ask what she saw in his future. She closed her eyes and went into a trance before saying the following: "I see a parade in your honor in Washington D.C. There are hundreds of thousands of people lining the streets. They are all smiling, and cheering, and waving American flags. Millions more are watching the event on television - - across the country and around the world. There is a great feeling of excitement and profound joy. The world has never seen such happiness and joy. I see Melania. She has the biggest smile on her face. She too has never been this happy."
With that, trump said smugly, "I hope my hair looks OK. How's my hair?"
She replied, "I can't tell. It's a closed casket."

Well, I thought it humorous. WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump’s whipsaw decisions to first move the Republican National Convention’s main events, then to cancel them, are costing GOP donors millions of dollars, according to multiple Republicans familiar with the finances. Of the $38 million raised by the host committee for the convention’s original location — Charlotte, N.C. — the majority has been spent, the Republican officials said. The host committee in Jacksonville, Fla., where Trump had moved the convention, raised an additional $6 million, but GOP officials said much of that money remains.

Hopefully somebody other than a trump has control of that money or it will never see the light of the campaign trail.

In a tweet Saturday evening, President Donald Trump warned Americans that “jobs will disappear!” if presumptive Democratic nominee Joe Biden is elected.
Millions of jobs have already disappeared during the economic downturn caused by the coronavirus crisis. In the second quarter, the U.S. economy shrank by 9.5%, a historically bad drop.
Biden is not in the White House.
During the last three years of former President Barack Obama’s administration, the economy created more jobs than it did during its best year under Trump.

Thought this to be a good thread for this one, although I had thought of starting one called "The Delusional Narcissist" White House aides reached out to South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem last year about the process of adding additional presidents to Mount Rushmore, the New York Times reported. According to a person familiar who spoke with the Times, Noem then greeted Trump when he arrived in the state for his July Fourth celebrations at the monument with a four-foot replica of Mount Rushmore that included his face. Noem has noted before Trump's "dream" to have his face on Mount Rushmore, the Coolidge-era sculpture that features the 60-foot-tall faces of Presidents George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln and Theodore Roosevelt. According to a 2018 interview with Noem, the two struck up a conversation about the sculpture in the Oval Office during their first meeting, where she initially thought he was joking. "I started laughing," she said. "He wasn't laughing, so he was totally serious." "He said, 'Kristi, come on over here. Shake my hand, and so I shook his hand, and I said, 'Mr. President, you should come to South Dakota sometime. We have Mount Rushmore.' And he goes, 'Do you know it's my dream to have my face on Mount Rushmore?'"
