This is the same as religious thinking. First, you start with a conclusion. Then, any fact that doesn't agree with your conclusion, you cannot accept in its entirety. There always has to be some mysterious unknown reason because the deity is smarter than them and knows what it is doing. It's very hard to change these people's minds because you - an outsider - cannot tell them that they're wrong.
In order to reach these people, we have to engage in Socratic questioning and allow them to come to this realization slowly, in a way that makes them feel like they've discovered it themselves. That's really damn hard to do, and it's exhausting.

Trump's mob destroyed loads of old paintings and furniture while they were in there.
A small thing, I guess, but kind of goes against their supposed aims. All that stuff is part of the "America" you're trying to "liberate?"
Or are you no better than the (tiny minority) of "rioters" and "looters" you got your panties in such a twist about??
I'm sure I'd get blasted as "a liberal elite" for saying this, but I have way more issue with old paintings and furniture in a historic building being destroyed than a Nike shop or a Denny's getting burned down.
Destroying paintings is anti intellectual nazi style shit.

"A Washington DC police officer who tried to stop Trump-supporting insurrectionists from attacking the Capitol on 6 January has revealed that some rioters shouted “‘Kill him with his own gun!” as he lay injured on the ground.
Officer Michael Fanone of DC Metropolitan police described his experience of the attack – which left at least five people dead, including a Capitol police officer – in a harrowing interview with CNN. Fanone said that the frenzied mob was ripping his gear off him, including his spare ammunition, police radio and badge.
The police officer, who has spent almost 20 years on the force, endured several Taser shocks in the back of his neck before things got worse. “Some guys started getting a hold of my gun and they were screaming out, ‘Kill him with his own gun,” he said.
Fanone is still recovering from a minor heart attack he suffered during the assault."
