Just to be clear. My doubt is over the fact it says that two months later he said on the day of the match?
Doesn’t make sense. Doesn’t match anything I can find.

I didn’t realise the ‘victim’ in the Boycott domestic violence case later admitted to lying about it because she was angry at him and had actually taken a fall.
Given that, huge congrats to both him and Sir Andrew Strauss. I think it’s a tad soon for Strauss, but he’s absolutely worthy. I guess sometimes it’s about what the person will do with it as well as recognition, and I’m sure he will continue doing a lot of charity stuff as well.
I admired the stories about Boycott and how tough and ruthless he was, but found him a bit annoying commentating. I’ll listen with fresh ears now I know he’s not the woman beater I thought he was.
Talk of Cummings missing. Just managing his workload, but it won’t be terrible to have Hazlewood, with Starc and Patto fighting for the 3rd spot full time I guess.

Where did you see that she had admitted lying Ray? I just did a little search and couldn't find anything.
Boycott's own testimony said nothing about a fall. He said he had to restrain her and they both fell on the floor and that's how she got hurt. If you mean that, that's not quite the same as her "having a little fall" on her own, is it. And she she also claimed a long time after that he'd been physical with her on a number of occasions...
- "Nor is there any shortage of “colourful background” on Boycott’s position on the honours system. Boycott felt his earlier gong, an MBE, had been devalued by those given to the 2005 Ashes-winning side, who went on to a 5-0 series whitewash in Australia two years later. “People like me played 100 Test matches to get one, and [scored] 8,000 [runs],” he fretted at the time. “I didn’t play five Test matches and get one. I feel so bad about mine I’m going to tie it round my cat. It doesn’t mean anything any more. It’s a joke.” Yet Boycott felt the prospect of upgrading his cat jewellery was slim. A couple of years ago, he claimed further honours for him had been “turned down twice”, adding that “I’d better black my face”. West Indians, he thought, received them “like confetti”. "
Yeah, real classy guy is Boycott...

That all matches my previous understanding. I’ll find the link. It was on a twitter post so it’ll take me a bit but I’ll get to it ASAP.

Collingwood got an MBE for making 12 runs I think 😆
I don’t agree with his hissyfit, but I do think they went a bit early honouring the whole team.

Australia are evens and England at 6-4 so no bet for me would have had a small bet on England if they were 2-1 Jamie just had a fiver at 13-5 on your team beating us Saturday i think that is good value how we are playing

Marsh to play at 6 apparently, I hope he does well because we need a decent all rounder. I know he’s been tested before but he’s older now and captain if his state which has improved his stats. His bowling is rock solid but not terribly threatening. Head unlucky. Still speculation on our bowlers but I hope they don’t play Siddle.
Been doing a bit more part time work since I’ve been feeling better, got another shift tonite so won’t see the first session. Hope it’s no more than a wicket or two no matter who is batting when I get to look. Will be listening though, so it feels like free money lol.
Cheers all.

He had an incredible amount of potential. He was tall, quick and did a bit with it, but he will always be remembered for his ball to second slip. Missed out on this one! Nope, he will always be remembered for his brilliant slow ball at the end of a day's play in 05 to bowl Michael Clarke (I think). And for numerous devastating spells in a very good career. Not one of the true greats but one of my favourites of all time. That one horrific ball certainly does not define his career. Cheating does, however. Unfortunately. And going back to something else you said in this thread, the brilliance of Smith has been the only difference between these sides. Look at what's happened. Edgbaston, he scores 144 out of 284 in the first to dig you out of a hole, then another ton in the second to give you the advantage. No Smith, 1-0 England. Lords, he gets knocked out of the game but still contributed enough that the weather meant England didn't have time to win. Headingley he's out, England win. Old Trafford he scores an unbelievable double hundred coming in at 28-2, takes the game away and then steadies the ship again in the second when England have made in roads and are sniffing another miracle. Not to say Cummins and Hazlewood haven't been good because they have, as has Labiashane, but sorry Ray, no Smith = England win the Ashes. Simple as that. But you might not win the series. Very odd decision to put England in this morning and you've got the dropsies! 😂

I guess we’ll have to agree to disagree. We’ve got 7 of the top 10 run scorers (last I checked) and have the much (much)better bowling attack. We’ve got depth in all departments, I don’t think you have.
If you remove Smith, someone else fills his place, so you can’t assume that guy (Burns, Patterson, Kawaja?) makes none.
Also 3-1 😘
Imagine how many were going to make on that track if you don’t bat till tea tomorrow. I think it was a good decision sending you in. We need 20 wickets for the win and it’s only going to help a bit today, then be turning square and up n down on days 4 & 5, and if we play it right they’re all going to be times you’re batting.
Time will tell.
